Number of Acute Malnutrition Cases Rises to 95,000 in Gaza: UN

Gaza: The United Nations announced that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip “remains critical” due to the harsh weather conditions, noting that the number of acute malnutrition cases has risen to approximately 95,000.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, this came in a statement by the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, St©phane Dujarric, during a press conference on Monday evening. Dujarric highlighted that staff from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) have warned about the critical state of affairs in the Gaza Strip. The harsh weather conditions are jeopardizing the progress made in meeting significant shelter needs.

He further stated that “1.1 million people are still in dire need of assistance, as heavy rains continue to damage and destroy most existing shelters.”
