Rafah: Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) teams on Tuesday participated in a new medical evacuation operation through the Rafah land crossing, involving 97 people, including 35 patients and 62 companions, as part of ongoing efforts to enable patients to receive treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the assembly process began at the PRCS Medical Rehabilitation Hospital in Khan Younis. Here, Red Crescent teams received patients and their companions, provided the necessary logistical and humanitarian support, and assisted in facilitating their transfer in accordance with approved field arrangements.
The World Health Organization (WHO) oversaw and coordinated the evacuation process with the relevant authorities. This included the completion of procedures required for the departure of patients and their companions through the Rafah crossing.
The operation is part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to evacuate patients in need of specialized medical care unavailable in the Gaza Strip. This comes amid severe challenges facing the healthcare sector and the ongoing pressure on medical facilities.
