Muslim Leaders Call for Collective Action Against Israel’s Treacherous Attack, Expansionist Agenda

Doha: Condemnations from the Muslim world mounted on Monday as Qatar hosted an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, where state leaders condemned Israel’s strike on Hamas negotiators in Doha. Addressing the summit, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani described the Israeli attack as “cowardly and treacherous,” noting that Hamas leaders were engaged in discussions over a US ceasefire proposal presented by Qatar and Egypt at the time of the strike.

According to TRTworld.com, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi warned that Israel’s actions could undermine existing and future peace agreements. He emphasized the potential risk to regional security and the possibility of a return to conflict, which would negate historic peace-building efforts. Jordan’s King Abdullah II echoed these sentiments, calling for a decisive regional response to the aggression against Qatar, which he described as a blatant act of terrorism.

Iran’s president also condemned the attack, urging Islamic unity in response. Accusations against Israel for committing genocide in Gaza have been widespread, with the campaign resulting in over 64,000 casualties. The criticism comes amid Qatar’s role as a mediator in the Gaza conflict, accusing Israel of sabotaging peace efforts.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Israel’s actions in Doha, calling for an Arab-Islamic task force to counter Israel’s expansionist policies. Sharif highlighted the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and the broader implications of Israel’s hegemonic ambitions. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim called for an end to diplomatic and trade ties with Israel, aligning with the Global Sumud Flotilla aimed at supporting Gaza.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed concerns over the airstrikes and called for adherence to the UN Charter and international law. He praised Qatar’s mediation efforts and stressed the importance of resuming talks for a lasting ceasefire.

The Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry also condemned the attack, viewing it as an affront to the entire Muslim community. Bangladesh called for coordinated measures by OIC member states to deter further Israeli provocations. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized the broader implications of the Palestinian issue on international law and urged the UN Security Council to take decisive action. Indonesia reaffirmed its support for a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, standing in solidarity with Qatar and other nations upholding international law.
