Ramallah: The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the current spread of seasonal flu in Palestine is within normal parameters and there are no signs of dangerous viruses. This assurance comes after the ministry’s ongoing monitoring programs for influenza and other respiratory viruses.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the ministry issued a statement indicating a natural increase in seasonal flu cases over the past month. Health teams are actively observing the situation, focusing on the epidemiological status of respiratory viruses, and enhancing preventive measures to limit their spread.
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Family Health Affairs, Kamal Al-Shakhra, stated that preventive medicine departments are systematically collecting samples and conducting tests in ministry laboratories following established protocols. He addressed and dismissed rumors regarding the spread of the HMPV virus, clarifying that although the virus has been periodically identified since 2001, the ministry’s laboratories are well-equipped to perform required tests.
Al-Shakhra also reiterated that the Ministry of Health remains the sole official source for public health information and encouraged citizens to rely on official communications to prevent misinformation.
