Israeli Occupation Forces Prevent Farmers from Working Land in Deir Istiya

Deir Istiya: Israeli occupation forces on Sunday prevented Palestinian farmers from working their land in the village of Deir Istiya, located northwest of Salfit in the central West Bank.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, local sources reported that Israeli forces blocked farmers from pruning olive trees in the Bir Al-Swied area, west of Deir Istiya, and forced them to leave the area. This incident follows an attack by Israeli colonists on Thursday, January 23, where 30 olive trees, some 50 years old, were cut down in the nearby village of Qarawat Bani Hassan.

The region has been a hotspot for recurring assaults by Israeli forces against local farmers. The military frequently occupies the agricultural road leading to the Qattan Al-Jama'a area west of Deir Istiya, where farmers are often stopped for long periods, preventing them from accessing their lands.
