Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir Enters Al-Aqsa Mosque Ahead of Elections

Jerusalem:On Monday, Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Israeli Minister of National Security, entered the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy security. This action comes on the eve of the Israeli Knesset elections, which are scheduled for Tuesday.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that Ben-Gvir was accompanied by Knesset member Moshe Feiglin during his visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Ben-Gvir's previous visits to the site include an incursion on September 28, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Israel Katz, which coincided with the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Another entry occurred on August 31, during which Ben-Gvir performed Talmudic rituals in the mosque's eastern courtyards. These actions have raised concerns about potential changes to the site's historical and legal status quo, as Ben-Gvir has advocated for expanded Jewish prayer within the mosque's courtyards.
