Israeli Forces Tighten Movement Restrictions Around Nablus

Nablus: Israeli occupation forces Tuesday evening tightened the movement restrictions around the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to security sources. They reported that the occupying forces increased restrictions at the Deir Sharaf and Sarra checkpoints, west of Nablus, and at the al-Muraba'a and Beit Furik checkpoints, east of the city. These actions resulted in severe traffic congestion, trapping thousands of Palestinians for long hours.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupation forces also established a checkpoint at the entrance of al-Funduq village, east of Qalqilya. This checkpoint targeted Palestinian-registered vehicles, with soldiers checking passengers' ID cards and denying some the freedom to move. The military measures have been tightened across the occupied West Bank following the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire. This has led to the dismemberment and isolation of cities and governorates through military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.

The Israeli military measures coincide with ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists across the West Bank. These actions are aimed at terrorizing Palestinians, displacing them from their lands, and building illegal Jewish colonies that separate Palestinian communities. Israeli forces impose severe restrictions on Palestinians' freedom of movement within the occupied West Bank through a network of approximately 898 fixed and flying checkpoints and gates. This network includes 18 gates installed since the start of 2025 and 146 others erected after October 7, 2023, settler-only roads, over 200 military bases, and various other physical obstructions.
