Qalandiya: Israeli occupation forces notified several Palestinian businesses in the vicinity of Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, of their impending demolition on Tuesday morning. Local sources reported that Israeli forces stormed al-Matar Street near Qalandiya camp, issued demolition orders to a number of businesses, and demanded that their owners evacuate.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, for the second consecutive day, the Israeli army has launched a large-scale military offensive north of occupied Jerusalem. This includes raids on the town of Kafr Aqab and the area surrounding Qalandiya camp. The operation is purportedly to reinforce control along the separation wall and expand settlements, leading to the demolition of Palestinian structures.
The aggression forms part of a systematic policy aimed at tightening colonial control over the Jerusalem area. This follows recent official Israeli reports acknowledging significant gaps in the wall’s route, particularly around the city. The Israeli occupation authorities are using these gaps as a pretext to intensify military and punitive measures against Palestinian citizens.
The Jerusalem Governorate confirmed that the demolition work by the occupation forces on al-Matar Street near Qalandiya camp is being executed on plot number (1). This plot is adjacent to the Qalandia Training Institute of UNRWA and is land officially registered in the land registry under the name ‘a-Matar Lands – Treasury of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’.
