Jenin:Israeli occupation forces have issued over 20 demolition notices targeting agricultural and commercial structures in the Jenin Governorate.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Tareq Aghbaria, who oversees the settlements file in the Jenin Governorate, reported that these notices affect greenhouses, agricultural sheds, a recreational park, and a car dealership. At the same time, farmers from the village of Al-Arqa, located west of Jenin, have been expelled from their land and impeded from harvesting their olive crops.
Aghbaria explained that the demolition orders impact properties owned by local residents in an area stretching from the Al-Badia roundabout near 'Aba in the east to the Martyr Shamikh Abu al-Rub roundabout near the American School in the south. These actions threaten the facilities and livelihoods of the residents, potentially leading to significant financial losses.
He highlighted that demolishing greenhouses, agricultural sheds, and commercial structures would result in the destruction of essential equipment and supplies, adversely affecting production and the income sources of the affected families. Such actions jeopardize the ongoing agricultural and commercial activities in the region.
Furthermore, Aghbaria pointed out that the expulsion of farmers from their lands in Al-Arqa and the prohibition of olive harvesting intensify their difficulties. The olive season is a critical income source for many families, and being barred from their land threatens the entire season's yield, imposing additional economic burdens. He stressed that these measures, including demolition notices and restricted access to agricultural land, increase pressure on citizens, threatening their ability to cultivate their land and sustain their livelihoods. These ongoing Israeli actions continue to undermine the foundations of resilience and economic stability in the Jenin Governorate.
