Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of abuses targeting Palestinians across occupied Jerusalem on Thursday, including assaults on residents, detentions, deportation orders, raids accompanied by closures, and attacks by settler groups, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency - WAFA, the governorate reported that Israeli forces assaulted young man Mohammed Al-Arabi in Shuafat refugee camp, northeast of Jerusalem. Al-Arabi was beaten and sustained facial injuries while attempting to protect his brother, a disabled minor, who was also detained and assaulted for approximately 15 minutes before being released.
The governorate further detailed that Israeli authorities detained Al-Aqsa Mosque guard Ismail Siyam near Bab al-Asbat. Siyam was released under the condition of a seven-day ban from the Old City and a financial penalty. Additionally, Imran Al-Rajabi, another mosque guard, was issued a six-month ban from Al-Aqsa Mosque in ongoing measures targeting employees of the Islamic Waqf Department.
In the Silwan district, shops in the Al-Thawri neighborhood were forced to close as Israeli forces and municipal tax teams conducted a raid. Military checkpoints were established, and arbitrary notices of tax evasion were issued against businesses and vehicles in the area.
The governorate also noted that groups of settlers attempted to steal livestock from herders on the outskirts of the town of Hizma, east of Jerusalem. These incidents are part of a broader pattern of increasing attacks on shepherds in the region.
The Governorate of Jerusalem emphasized that these actions are part of a systematic policy targeting residents, their livelihoods, and include physical assaults, detentions, deportations, and economic pressure.
