Israeli Forces Intensify Closure of Idhna Town Near Hebron

Gaza: Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday further tightened their closure of the main entrance to the town of Idhna, west of Hebron, according to the town mayor. Rizq Tamizi stated that the forces placed concrete blocks alongside an iron gate that they had installed years ago at the town's main entrance, which has remained closed for the past three years.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the occupation forces have escalated military measures across the occupied West Bank. This action follows the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the Gaza ceasefire, which went into effect on January 19, 2025. The restrictions have been intensified under the pretext of the ongoing Israel-Iran war, effectively dismembering and isolating cities and governorates through military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks.

These military measures coincide with ongoing attacks by Israeli colonists across the West Bank, aimed at terrorizing Palestinians and displacing them from their lands. The objective is to seize these lands and construct illegal Jewish colonies, which further separate Palestinian communities.

Israel implements severe restrictions on Palestinians' freedom of movement within the occupied West Bank. This is executed through a complex system of approximately 925 fixed and flying checkpoints, colonist-only roads, over 200 military bases, and various other physical obstructions. These closures and other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel's 59-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project. This is enforced with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
