Israeli Forces Ignite Displacement Camp in Gaza City, Forcing Over 800 Palestinians to Flee

Gaza City:Israeli occupation forces set fire to a displacement camp at the Shuja'iyya junction, east of Gaza City, last night, displacing over 800 Palestinians. The displaced include women, children, elderly people, and patients. Local sources report that Israeli quadcopter drones ignited the entire camp, destroying tents and belongings of more than 200 families.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the fire caused panic and fear among the families, leaving them without shelter or alternatives amidst harsh living conditions. Human rights advocates have condemned the act as a policy of 'forced displacement and continuous uprooting,' labeling it a potential 'war crime and crime against humanity' under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.

The advocates urged international bodies, including the United Nations and human rights organizations, to take immediate action to stop the destruction of Gaza. They also called for relief agencies and international organizations to provide tents and alternative shelters for the affected families.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has conducted a military campaign in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 74,555 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and injuring 175,727 others. The conflict has devastated 90% of Gaza's infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated at $70 billion. Despite a ceasefire that began on October 11, 2025, Israeli actions have continued, with 1,559 Palestinians killed and 5,608 injured since then.

In the past 24 hours alone, 11 bodies of slain Palestinians, including three retrieved from rubble, and 35 casualties have been taken to Gaza hospitals. Additionally, at least 10,000 people remain unaccounted for, presumed dead under the debris of their homes across the Strip. The aggression has also displaced nearly two million people, with most forced into the crowded southern city of Rafah, marking the largest Palestinian exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
