Israeli Forces Detain 17 During Olive Harvest Near Ramallah

Ramallah:Israeli occupation forces detained 17 individuals, including 12 foreign activists, two foreign journalists, and three Palestinians, on Friday while they participated in the olive harvest in Kafr Ni'ma village, west of Ramallah.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, a group of Israeli colonists attacked Palestinians, foreign activists, and journalists near Jabal al-Risan in the village as they aided farmers in harvesting olives. The attack occurred under the protection of Israeli forces, who assaulted and detained several participants.

The Faza'a campaign stated that among the detained Palestinians were its Ramallah coordinator and two farmers. It further reported that Israeli soldiers assaulted the farmers prior to detaining them. The detainees were reportedly taken to a nearby military outpost by Israeli forces.

The campaign emphasized that international activists were assisting Palestinian farmers in accessing their lands and shielding them from colonist attacks during the olive harvest season. It also highlighted the repeated targeting of international activists engaged in solidarity and agricultural activities across the occupied West Bank.

The Faza'a campaign cited the detention of several foreign activists in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, on October 22, who were subsequently deported. Despite these incidents, the campaign affirmed its commitment to continue solidarity activities across the West Bank, with both Palestinian and international volunteers supporting farmers and reinforcing their presence on their lands during the olive harvest season.
