Jerusalem: Israeli forces on Monday removed the rubble of a Palestinian home in the East Jerusalem town of Silwan, after the owner was forced to self-demolish it under orders from the Israeli occupation municipality. The operation was part of ongoing activities by the Israeli occupation authorities in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, crews from the Israeli occupation municipality, accompanied by occupation forces, raided the site of Jerusalem resident Mohammad al-Shamaliyeh's home in Silwan. They conducted bulldozing work under the pretext of completing the demolition. Al-Shamaliyeh and his son Khaled had earlier been compelled to destroy their 150-square-meter two-apartment home due to a lack of an Israeli-issued permit.
The Israeli occupation municipality has been conducting similar demolition operations under various pretexts. These activities continue even after homeowners have self-demolished their properties. The aim is to impose further fines and costs on Palestinian residents of Jerusalem, according to the policy that seeks to impose financial pressure and hardship on them.
