Gaza city: Israeli colonists on Thursday evening torched Palestinian-owned land in the village of Jalud, south of Nablus, according to an activist. Bashar al-Qaryouti reported that the colonists attacked the village, targeting a tract of cultivated land in the al-Bayyada area, which is close to poultry farms.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the colonists not only set the land on fire but also opened fire at villagers who attempted to extinguish the blaze. Such incidents of violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property are common in the West Bank and seldom result in prosecution by Israeli authorities.
These acts of violence are not limited to arson. They often include the destruction of property and places of worship, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes. There are approximately 1 million Israeli colonists residing in colonies throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law.
