Nablus: Israeli colonists established a new colonial outpost on Palestinian-owned land on Sunday in the Tel al-Asur area, east of Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate. Local sources reported that dozens of colonists set up a tent in the area and brought in water tanks and storage containers, indicating an attempt to establish a new settlement outpost on the site.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Tel al-Asur area, located between the towns of al-Mughayyir and Deir Jarir, has been experiencing ongoing colonist attacks. These include the establishment of settlement outposts and the seizure of Palestinian land, contributing to continued settlement expansion.
The new outpost in Tel al-Asur marks the third established by colonists in a single day. Earlier, colonists set up one outpost on land belonging to Deir Istiya, north of Salfit, and another on land belonging to Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah.
A report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission highlights that the first half of 2026 saw an increase in colonist violations. These included the establishment of new settlement outposts, attacks on Palestinian property, and the destruction of trees as part of a strategy to create facts on the ground. Colonists established 42 settlement outposts on Palestinian-owned land, mostly pastoral outposts, including four in areas classified as Area B.
The outposts were distributed across the governorates of Hebron (13 outposts), Ramallah (9 outposts), Nablus (8 outposts), Bethlehem (4 outposts), and other areas.
