Nablus: Israeli colonists on Friday destroyed Palestinians’ crops in Burqa village, northwest of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to an activist. Dhyab Hajji reported that the colonists attacked the al-Masudiyya plain, causing damage to Palestinian farmers’ crops and stealing fences.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the colonists also targeted a 13-million-Euro irrigation project funded by the German Development Bank (KfW) in collaboration with the Nablus Municipality. This project, aimed at supporting local agriculture, faced sabotage amid ongoing tensions in the region.
Violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a regular occurrence in the West Bank, with little action taken by Israeli authorities to prosecute such incidents. These acts of violence include arson of property and mosques, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and assaults on vulnerable homes.
Currently, about 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies within the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law.
