Ramallah: Israeli occupation authorities have seized more than 52,000 dunums of Palestinian land, issued 13 military orders establishing buffer zones around colonies, and established 60 new outposts since October 7, 2023, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, these findings were presented in a report issued today by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission to mark the 49th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day.
The commission focused in its report on measures committed by the occupation forces to seize Palestinian land, exploiting the aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for more than sixteen months to encroach on Palestinian territory through seizure, imposition of fait accompli, and closure.
The head of the commission, Mu'ayyad Shaaban, stated that the occupation authorities have seized more than 52,000 dunums of Palestinian land since the beginning of the aggression, including 46,000 dunums in 2024, under pretexts such as declarations of nature reserves, state lands, military orders, and others.
Over the past period, the commission reported that Israel has issued 13 military orders requiring the establishment of buffer zones around colonies, in an attempt to prevent local citizens from accessing thousands of dunums of land, facilitating the seizure and dispossession of citizens.
The area seized by the occupation forces under the pretext of state land amounted to more than 24,000 dunums, the largest such seizure in over three decades.
Additionally, during the same period, the report noted that Israeli authorities have set up over 898 military checkpoints and gates across the occupied West Bank, further complicating the daily challenges faced by Palestinians in their movement across the region.
Shaaban also mentioned that the total number of demolition notices distributed last year reached over 939, including demolition and stop construction notices, with 60% concentrated in the governorates of Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Jerusalem.
