JERUSALEM: Israeli authorities have issued demolition orders for 13 homes belonging to the Al-Fuhaidat family in Anata, a town northeast of occupied Jerusalem. The family has been given 12 days to evacuate their residences, which are home to brothers and cousins of the Al-Fuhaidat family. The homes are situated near an Israeli occupation camp, which was established after the family settled in the area in the 1950s.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Al-Fuhaidat family has been living in the area for decades, prior to the existence of the nearby occupation camp. The notices are part of a broader pattern of demolitions and evictions affecting Palestinian homes and facilities in the region. Earlier today, Israeli occupation forces entered the town of Al-Issawiya, also northeast of Jerusalem, issuing demolition notifications for several homes and facilities.
The demolition orders come amid an intense period of conflict, following the start of a comprehensive Israeli military campaign against Palestinians on October 7, 2023. Since then, Israeli authorities have executed over 433 demolition and bulldozing operations in the Jerusalem governorate, affecting numerous homes and facilities. The ongoing demolitions have drawn international attention and criticism from human rights organizations.
