Israeli Airstrike in Southern Lebanon Kills Two Civilians, Sparks Condemnation


BEIRUT: Two Lebanese civilians were killed and one was injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Khiyam in southern Lebanon, local sources reported today. The attack has drawn sharp criticism from Lebanese officials, who are urging international intervention to prevent further violence.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attack as “a blatant act of betrayal,” emphasizing that it violates the commitments made by the United States and France, the parties that brokered the existing ceasefire agreement. Mikati called on both nations to take a definitive stand against the attack and to work towards curbing Israeli aggression.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for the Monitoring Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire, to address these ongoing violations.
