Israel to Implement Law Cutting Off Electricity and Water to UNRWA Buildings in Jerusalem

Jerusalem: Israel is set to enforce a new law that will cut off electricity and water to United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) buildings in occupied Jerusalem, marking a significant escalation in the region. The Jerusalem Governorate has reported that the Israeli occupation authorities have taken practical steps towards this initiative, targeting the agency's presence and its essential institutions within the city.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, official notices have been dispatched by the Israeli Electric Corporation, indicating the commencement of these measures. The brief statement from the Governorate mentioned that these notices were specifically delivered to UNRWA buildings located within the separation wall, with the implementation set to begin on the 15th.

The move has raised concerns about the impact on UNRWA's operations, which provide crucial services to Palestinian refugees. The planned disconnection of utilities is seen as a part of broader tensions concerning the agency's role and presence in the contested city.
