Israel Strikes Gaza City Despite Ceasefire Deal

Gaza city: Israeli fighter jets on Monday evening struck Gaza City, marking an ongoing breach of the ceasefire deal, according to WAFA correspondent. The correspondent reported that Israeli aircraft launched two strikes on Eastern Gaza, contributing to the ongoing conflict in the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Israeli aerial and artillery bombardment has been continuous since Sunday night, particularly affecting areas like Khan Younis and Gaza City. These attacks have resulted in the death and injury of numerous civilians. Since the US-brokered ceasefire began on October 10, Israel has reportedly killed 236 Palestinian civilians and injured 600 others. In addition, bodies of 502 Palestinians have been retrieved from the rubble.

The situation escalated when Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on Tuesday, March 18. This new wave of airstrikes has resulted in the death of 13,598 Palestinians and injuries to 57,849 others. Since the commencement of Israel’s military onslaught on the Strip in October 2023, a total of 68,865 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, and 170,670 others have been injured.

Furthermore, at least 10,000 people remain unaccounted for, presumed dead beneath the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip. The ongoing Israeli aggression has also led to the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip. The majority of these displaced individuals have been forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border, marking Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
