Israel: Israel has intercepted aid vessels bound for the Gaza Strip in international waters near Greece, organizers said on Thursday. The interception has attracted criticism from the organizers, who have labeled the action as a significant escalation of Israel's actions without consequence.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative reported that Israel seized control of the vessels hundreds of miles away from the Gaza Strip. The group issued a statement condemning the interception as "piracy," describing it as the unlawful seizure of people on the open sea near Crete. The statement further criticized Israel's ability to operate far beyond its borders without facing any repercussions.
It is important to note that a second flotilla carrying humanitarian aid departed from Barcelona, Spain, on April 12. This effort aimed to challenge the blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip.
