Tashkent: Israel failed on Wednesday to secure a debate of an emergency item on facilitating the displacement of Palestinians during the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, all the emergency items submitted to the 150th Assembly of the IPU were not debated in the Assembly on Tuesday, after all three were unable to meet the two-thirds threshold required in the rules.
It elaborated that Israel had earlier withdrawn its emergency item for reasons that were not divulged to the Assembly. However, when Israel went to table its emergency item, the Arab Group and those sympathetic to the Palestinian cause stood and left the Assembly.
