Berlin: The German Red Cross said that the already dire living conditions of Gaza's population have further deteriorated during the winter season. "The winter months, coupled with severe shortages of supplies, are particularly devastating for children, the wounded, and the elderly," said Hermann Gr¶he, president of the German Red Cross, in an interview with the German newspaper Rheinische Post.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, inadequate medical care in the Gaza Strip is a major problem. "Many Palestinians are dying from treatable illnesses," said Christian Katz, the organization's executive director, in an interview with the newspaper.
Gr¶he described the critical shortages, saying, "There is still a lack of everything: sufficient food, medical supplies, medicines, electricity, and water." Gr¶he, a former German health minister, added that the amount of humanitarian aid reaching the Gaza Strip remains insufficient, as the required number of 600 truckloads per day is still not being met.
