Gaza city: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced on Tuesday that 20,058 Palestinian students have been killed and 31,139 injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, 2023.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Ministry of Education clarified that the number of students killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the aggression has reached more than 19,910, with those injured numbering 30,097. In the West Bank, 148 students were killed and 1,042 injured, with an additional 846 arrested.
The Ministry stated that 1,037 teachers and administrators were killed and 4,740 injured in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with more than 228 arrests in the West Bank. The impact on educational infrastructure has been severe, with 179 government schools completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip, along with 63 university buildings. Additionally, 118 government schools and over 100 UNRWA schools were bombed and vandalized, leading to the removal of 30 schools and their students and teachers from the educational registry. In the West Bank, the destruction included the Amira Elementary School in Yatta, south of Hebron, and the Aqaba Elementary School in Tubas. Eight universities and colleges have faced repeated raids and vandalism.
