Tunis:The European Council has urged Israel to immediately reverse its decisions regarding the expansion of colonization, specifically calling for the withdrawal of its construction tender for the E1 area in the occupied West Bank.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the Council issued a warning to companies and financial institutions against participating in the E1 colonial project or any other colonization activities.
The statement highlighted that business involvement in these activities could lead to legal, economic, and reputational consequences, as well as constituting a violation of international law.
The European Council emphasized that the E1 project, which extends from the Ma'ale Adumim colony, poses a significant threat to the geographical contiguity between Ramallah, East Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. This, in turn, obstructs the establishment of an independent and geographically contiguous Palestinian state.
