Brussels: The European Union has urged Israel to retract its recent actions concerning land registration in the occupied West Bank, labeling the move as a 'new escalation' in the ongoing regional tensions.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, European Commission spokesperson Anwar Al-Anouni emphasized the EU's position, stating, "The Israeli decision constitutes a new escalation. ... We reiterate that annexation (of the West Bank) is illegal under international law, and we call on Israel to reverse this decision."
The Israeli authorities, as reported, approved a draft decision to commence land settlement and registration procedures in the West Bank, marking the first such initiative since 1967.
