Gaza: The European Union on Friday criticized Israeli ministers for their remarks regarding the forced displacement of Gazans, labeling the comments as 'unacceptable'.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the response came during a European Commission daily press briefing, where EU spokesperson Christian Wigand addressed concerns about Israeli officials' statements on plans to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
Wigand reiterated that the EU rejects any attempts to alter the demographic or territorial status of the Gaza Strip, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2735. He emphasized the EU's support for unifying Gaza and the occupied West Bank under the Palestinian Authority, stressing that Gazans should not face forced displacement, as Gaza is integral to a future Palestinian state.
In recent developments, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Israel is prepared to expel Palestinians from Gaza once the United States determines a relocation destination. Katz noted that there is no long-term solution for Gaza without migration, suggesting readiness to facilitate this through various means.
Additionally, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir proposed a plan to promote voluntary emigration from Gaza, making it a focal point of his political campaign. Ben Gvir's "Disengagement 710" plan aims for the relocation of over a million Palestinians, reflecting a significant demographic shift.
