EU Commissioner Calls for Urgent Increase in Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Brussels: EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib emphasized on Monday the urgent need for large-scale humanitarian aid to reach the Gaza Strip. She stressed that assistance should not just trickle in but arrive in substantial amounts to meet the significant needs of the region, especially with the onset of winter.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Lahbib shared her concerns ahead of the EU foreign ministers' meeting, highlighting the critical situation in Gaza. She recounted her visit to the Rafah crossing two weeks earlier, where she was denied entry into Gaza despite witnessing hundreds of trucks with essential supplies waiting to be allowed in.

Lahbib noted the challenges faced by humanitarian workers at the crossing, describing their frustration and exhaustion due to the complex administrative procedures. She underscored the importance of overcoming these obstacles to ensure timely and adequate delivery of aid to those in need.
