Escalating Crimes During Olive Harvest Season Amid Humanitarian Concerns

Ramallah:The Cabinet has issued a warning about the increasing crimes by terrorist colonist mobs, which are occurring under the protection of occupation forces. This escalation coincides with the start of the olive harvest season.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has directed government institutions to intensify interventions and address citizens' needs through ministerial visits across various governorates. He emphasized the importance of coordination among government bodies to prioritize vulnerable groups and avoid duplication of efforts. The Cabinet expressed concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, which is entering its fourth year, and called for increased humanitarian aid, including shelter, clothing, food, and medical supplies, especially as winter approaches.

The Cabinet highlighted the severe impact of attacks during the olive harvest season, reporting the deaths of four Palestinians and 102 attacks on farmers and harvesters. The violence has also led to the theft of crops and the destruction of 2,204 olive trees, with damages estimated at about NIS 2 million. Additionally, there has been an increase in demolitions and restrictions in Palestinian governorates, notably in Hebron’s Old City and Jerusalem.

In other developments, the Cabinet adopted the One-Stop Shop Initiative for government services, set to pilot in Tulkarm's Kafriyat area and later expand to the southern West Bank. The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy is tasked with preparing the framework for its implementation. The Cabinet also approved adjustments to the organizational structures of various ministries and granted property tax collection powers to additional municipalities.

The Public-Private Partnership Law was referred to the President after completing its third reading, aiming to boost private-sector involvement in infrastructure and public services. Furthermore, the Minister of Agriculture briefed the Cabinet on initiatives to support the export of dates and other local produce, while the Minister of Culture outlined activities for Palestinian Heritage Day, including the launch of a digital archive for cultural preservation.
