Egypt’s El-Sisi Urges Ceasefire in Gaza, Warns of Uninhabitable Conditions

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has made a strong appeal for a ceasefire in Gaza, warning of the dire conditions that have rendered the area uninhabitable. President El-Sisi stated, "The Palestinian cause is going through one of its most dangerous phases, as the Palestinian people are subjected to systematic and brutal crimes aimed at ending their presence in the Gaza Strip."

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President El-Sisi denounced the widespread destruction in Gaza, highlighting the catastrophic situation caused by ongoing conflicts. He criticized the Israeli military operations for showing no restraint, affecting all demographics, and displacing two million Palestinians within the Strip. This, he claimed, is in blatant violation of international laws and norms.

President El-Sisi further addressed the situation in the West Bank, where he accused the occupation forces of implementing a repressive policy characterized by killing and destruction. Despite these challenges, he noted the resilience of the Palestinian people in their pursuit of their legitimate rights to their land and homeland.

Since October 2023, Egypt has ramped up its efforts to broker a ceasefire and facilitate humanitarian aid into Gaza. The President called on the international community to take decisive steps to resolve the ongoing crisis. He emphasized Egypt's commitment to rebuilding Gaza without displacing its people and announced plans to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction efforts post-conflict.

President El-Sisi reiterated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is crucial for breaking the cycle of violence in the region. He warned that even comprehensive normalization agreements between Israel and Arab countries would not achieve lasting peace without the establishment of Palestinian states. He also urged U.S. President Donald Trump to prioritize achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, paving the way for a serious political process toward lasting peace.
