Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed the need to reach a just settlement to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy, reaffirming Cairo's efforts to advance the implementation of the commitments under the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, this statement was made during President al-Sisi's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Cairo. The meeting, attended by delegations from both Egypt and China, addressed several regional and international issues of mutual concern. Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy mentioned that both leaders emphasized the importance of diplomatic solutions to crises and conflicts, focusing on a comprehensive agreement to end ongoing wars in the region.
The discussions underscored the significance of achieving a just settlement for the Palestinian issue, aligning with international law. President al-Sisi reiterated Egypt's dedication to advancing the Gaza ceasefire agreement's implementation and highlighted the necessity of delivering adequate aid, particularly medical supplies, to the Gaza Strip.
President al-Sisi commended China's support for Palestinian rights and its advocacy for a two-state solution as the pathway to lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis, and for regional stability. Chinese President Xi Jinping acknowledged Cairo's efforts in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa and expressed China's desire to strengthen coordination with Egypt on shared regional and international interests, aiming to support security, development, and peaceful conflict resolution.
