Gaza:Egypt categorically rejected any attempt to invoke the Sinai Peninsula in statements made by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, an informed Egyptian source revealed.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Egyptian source described Smotrich's remarks as empty threats aimed at serving electoral objectives through escalatory rhetoric. These statements coincided with Egypt's celebrations of the 53rd anniversary of the October War victory.
The source emphasized that these remarks did not necessitate further assurances regarding Egypt's ability to protect its territory and maintain its independence against any threats. Additionally, Smotrich's comments on the Sinai and the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip were criticized as attempts to use inflammatory rhetoric for electoral purposes.
The international community is fully aware that the Israeli occupation is responsible for the dire living conditions in the Gaza Strip, which aim to push Palestinians to leave their homeland, the source added. Egypt has neither accepted nor participated in this policy. Moreover, Egypt rejects any attempt to use its name for political purposes and remains committed to its policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.
