Jerusalem:Cairo Egypt has expressed strong disapproval of Colombia's recent decision to officially open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Egypt's Foreign Ministry issued a statement categorically rejecting the move, arguing that it contravenes international resolutions and attempts to impose a new reality affecting Jerusalem's legal and historical status.
Egypt emphasized that unilateral actions aimed at altering the city's status are deemed null and void, lacking any legal standing. The Ministry urged adherence to international resolutions and reiterated that a two-state solution is the only viable path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
The statement underlined that such a resolution should facilitate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.
