Egypt Condemns Israeli E1 Settlement Project, Warns of West Bank Division

Egypt: Egypt today condemned the Israeli government's publication of a tender for the E1 settlement project, warning that it would divide the West Bank, encircle East Jerusalem, and sever it from its Palestinian surroundings. This development, Egypt stated, undermines geographical contiguity between Palestinian territories and threatens the prospects for an independent and viable Palestinian state.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the project constitutes a violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions. It undermines the foundations of the two-state solution and prospects for achieving a just and comprehensive peace.

The Egyptian government expressed its full rejection of attempts to impose a fait accompli through illegal settlement expansion. The statement highlighted concerns about altering the legal and demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territory, which threatens the implementation of the two-state solution.

Egypt called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take effective steps to halt such violations. The statement reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
