Education Ministry Reports Over 20,000 Student Deaths Amid Israeli Aggression on Palestine


Gaza city: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced that 20,080 students have lost their lives and 31,147 have been injured since the onset of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank beginning October 7, 2023.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Ministry detailed in a statement on Tuesday that in the Gaza Strip alone, more than 19,932 students have been killed and 30,102 injured. In the West Bank, the fatalities include 148 students, with an additional 1,045 injured and 846 arrested.

The Ministry also reported that 1,037 teachers and administrators have been killed, and 4,757 injured across the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with over 228 arrests occurring in the West Bank. The destruction extends to educational infrastructure, with 179 government schools completely demolished in the Gaza Strip, alongside 63 university buildings. Furthermore, 118 government schools and over 100 UNRWA schools have been bombed and vandalized, leading to the removal of 3
0 schools, their students, and teachers from the educational registry.

In the West Bank, the Amira Elementary School in Yatta and the Aqaba Elementary School in Tubas have been destroyed. Additionally, eight universities and colleges have suffered repeated raids and acts of vandalism.
