GAZA CITY: The death toll in the Gaza Strip has surged to 45,553 amid ongoing Israeli military operations, according to medical sources. This escalation marks a significant increase in casualties, predominantly affecting women and children.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the number of casualties has reached 108,379, with recent attacks resulting in two massacres within the last 24 hours. These incidents have left 12 dead and 41 others injured, who have been transported to local hospitals for treatment. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, Israeli forces continue their offensive in the region.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has issued a legally binding order for Israel to cease its military actions in Rafah, citing potential violations of the Genocide Convention. However, Israeli operations persist, with at least 10,000 individuals still unaccounted for, feared to be trapped beneath the debris of destroyed homes throughout Gaza.
Palestinian and international organizations report that the majority of casualties are women and children, raising concerns over the humanitarian impact of the conflict. In addition to the loss of life, nearly two million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes, with most seeking refuge in Rafah, near the Egyptian border. This mass displacement represents the largest exodus in the region since the Nakba of 1948.
