al-Mughayer: On Sunday morning, a group of Israeli colonists, accompanied by Israeli forces, attacked the village of al-Mughayer, northeast of Ramallah, targeting olive harvests owned by local farmers.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, dozens of colonists stormed the village and proceeded to pick olives from trees belonging to local Palestinian citizens, stealing their harvest.
The latest incident occurs amid a surge in violence by Israeli occupation forces and settler militias against Palestinian farmers during the critical olive harvest season, fueled by the policies of the hard-right Israeli government.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission has reported that the West Bank experienced a significant surge in violence against olive farmers during the previous month, with a total of 360 attacks, primarily concentrated in Nablus. This included 245 acts of vandalism, theft, and the uprooting of 1,401 trees.
In their monthly report released today, the commission detailed tha
t colonists committed 245 acts of destruction, which involved obstructing access and stealing from Palestinian olive pickers. This included 26 incidents of olive crop theft, 22 instances of harvesting equipment theft, as well as the theft of 15 tents and caravans owned by residents, and three vehicle thefts.
Additionally, the colonist attacks led to the uprooting of 1,401 trees, with 1,339 of them being olive trees. The destruction was reported across several governorates, with Hebron facing the most severe loss at 740 trees, followed by Nablus with 193 trees, Ramallah with 178 trees, Bethlehem with 160 trees, Salfit with 100 trees, and Qalqilya with 30 trees.
