Colonists Fire Shots at Shepherds Near Bethlehem

Bethlehem:Shots were fired at shepherds in the village of Al-Maniya, southeast of Bethlehem, by colonists today. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the head of the Al-Maniya Village Council, Ahmed Kawazbeh, stated that the attack took place in the "Khalayel al-Qasr" area, where colonists harassed both shepherds and local residents after firing shots. Kawazbeh highlighted an increase in such attacks, which have included assaults on homes, destruction of water lines, and theft of water tanks and pumping generators. He also noted that colonists continue to maintain a presence in the area.

The village has experienced similar incidents in the past, including an attack last July where a young man was injured by shrapnel from gunfire. Additionally, colonists have previously destroyed an irrigation network and blocked a road leading to residents' homes.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported that in September alone, there were 2,051 attacks in the West Bank, with colonists responsible for 647 of these incidents. In the Bethlehem governorate, 48 of these attacks were recorded during that month. Over a three-year period from October 2023 to early October 2026, 14,742 attacks by colonists were documented, resulting in the deaths of 66 citizens.
