Ramallah: Colonists, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, bulldozed dozens of dunams of Palestinian land in the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, on Wednesday.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the head of the Umm Safa village council, Marwan al-Sabah, reported that a colonist-owned bulldozer, supported by the Israeli occupation army, razed dozens of dunams planted with ancient olive trees in the southern area of the village. He highlighted that over the past 48 hours, colonists have already cut down dozens of olive trees in the area.
Al-Sabah explained that the colonists have seized hundreds of dunams in the southern region with the intention of converting them into a pastoral colonial outpost. He further stated that there is a plan to displace the village's residents and establish a large colonial settlement bloc on the lands and homes of citizens, connecting it to the two neighboring colonies. This is particularly concerning since Umm Safa is the only village whose entrances have remained closed since the genocide war and have not been opened even once.
Umm Safa's total area is estimated at 4,000 dunams, of which only 300 dunams remain accessible due to occupation measures, land grabbing, and the seizure of vast areas. This remaining area is where the citizens' homes are located.
