Jericho: Israeli colonists on Friday attacked the displaced Arab Al-Mleihat Bedouin community in the Al-Balqaa area, north of Jericho, according to a watchdog organization.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights reported that colonists broke into the dwellings of the community and chased livestock herders. The organization further noted that the colonists systematically assaulted and terrorized the civilian community. This incident is part of ongoing efforts by the occupying power to entrench its control over the land by forcibly displacing the indigenous Palestinian people, which initially occurred in July 2025.
The report highlights that colonists' violence against Palestinians and their property is a routine occurrence in the West Bank. Despite the frequency of these attacks, Israeli authorities rarely prosecute such actions. The violence includes various acts such as property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, the uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law.
