JORDAN VALLEY: Israeli colonists today assaulted Palestinian shepherds and foreign activists in al-Sakout in the northern Jordan Valley. Human rights activist Aref Daraghmeh said that a group of Israeli colonists attempted to steal about 200 head of cattle belonging to a local resident while grazing them in al-Sakout lands. Local sources said that colonists assaulted Palestinian shepherds and activists who were preventing colonists from stealing the sheep herd. Palestinian shepherds in the northern Jordan Valley have been witnessing attacks by Israeli forces and colonists. Since yesterday, the occupation forces have imposed a tight military cordon on the villages of the northern, under the pretext of searching for the perpetrator of a shooting operation that took place in the Jordan Valley that resulted in the killing of a colonist. The occupation forces also tightened their military measures at the Tayasir and Hamra military checkpoints in the northern Jordan Valley, obstructing the movement of people a nd causing traffic jam.
