Gaza: The Palestinian Cabinet on Tuesday called for effective international action against Israeli measures targeting Palestinian schools in occupied Jerusalem, warning that restrictions preventing teachers and school staff from reaching their schools threaten the continuity of education for more than 50,000 students.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, during its weekly meeting in Ramallah, the Cabinet highlighted ongoing efforts to impose the Israeli curriculum on Palestinian schools. The Cabinet reaffirmed the State of Palestine's commitment to the Palestinian curriculum and its determination to protect education in Jerusalem and other targeted areas.
The Cabinet also expressed concern over a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, citing warnings from international organizations that humanitarian operations are at risk of collapse. It stated that Israel continues to restrict the entry of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and fuel, impede the operations of humanitarian organizations, and has revoked the registration of 37 international humanitarian organizations. The UN human rights office previously confirmed that Israel's measures target 37 international NGOs operating in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
The Cabinet warned that restrictions on access to vital sites further threaten the lives of nearly two million Palestinians who depend heavily on humanitarian assistance. It called on the international community to exert greater and sustained pressure to immediately lift the restrictions, open Gaza's crossings, ensure the continuous delivery of aid to those in need, and protect humanitarian workers.
