Ramallah: The Cabinet condemned the escalating attacks by the occupation and its colonists on several towns, villages, and refugee camps in the West Bank, the latest of which led to the killing and injury of several Palestinians during the Israeli military’s incursion into the towns of Qabatiya and Tammun, in the West Bank governorates of Jenin and Tubas, respectively.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the cabinet, during its weekly meeting, condemned Israeli colonists’ attacks against Palestinian olive pickers and various villages and towns situated near illegal colonies. Additionally, the cabinet denounced Israel’s ongoing demolition of Palestinian residents’ homes in Jerusalem.
Prime Minister, Mohammed Mustafa, highlighted the international efforts led by President Mahmoud Abbas and Palestinian diplomacy to halt the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, as the blockade on northern Gaza intensifies, leading to starvation and a significant rise in the n
umber of casualties. The Cabinet reiterated its demand for international bodies to exert pressure on the occupation to end the crime of genocide in Gaza and facilitate the resumption of relief efforts, ensuring adequate aid shipments to meet the population’s needs.
Mustafa noted that despite aid being stockpiled in the Ministry of Social Development’s warehouses in the West Bank due to occupation obstructions, the government continues to prepare aid shipments in collaboration with various partners, ready to transfer them to the Gaza Strip once communication with international organizations is successful. Over 150 aid trucks are currently stranded on the Jordanian side, waiting to cross into the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, around 5,000 aid trucks have been stuck at the Egypt border since the Rafah crossing was closed several months ago, causing some of the supplies to rot.
Mustafa also reviewed the Palestinian diplomatic efforts at the United Nations and other international institutions to address the actions of
the occupation against UNRWA. He stressed that UNRWA is vital for overseeing refugee affairs and reaffirmed its historical significance in relation to the tragedy of displacement and the safeguarding of the Palestinian people’s historical rights.
The cabinet discussed the Ministry of Health’s efforts, in partnership with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and UNRWA, to finalize the second round of the polio vaccination campaign in Gaza. To date, more than 550,000 children have received the vaccine, resulting in 94% coverage of those eligible. The campaign has been extended at several health centers to ensure that all remaining children are vaccinated.
