Jerusalem: Israeli forces and intelligence services raided the headquarters of the Union of Charitable Societies in Wadi al-Joz, occupied Jerusalem, detaining the union's current and former heads, and preventing a planned social event.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that Israeli troops detained Majdi al-Zughayer, president of the Union of Charitable Societies in Jerusalem, and Youssef Qari, former president of the union. The raid was conducted to prevent a social event announced by the union, which was under the auspices of the Palestinian National Authority.
The operation was ordered by Itamar Ben-Gvir, the so-called Minister of National Security in the occupation government. The order prohibits meetings of clubs and associations involved in culture and sports in Jerusalem, based on the claim that the activities are affiliated with the Palestinian National Authority.
These actions are part of a broader Israeli policy to restrict the operations of Jerusalemite institutions and to prevent any activities of a national or social nature within the occupied city.
