Hebron: Armed Israeli colonists on Monday attacked a Palestinian’s house in Wadi Ijheish hamlet, southeast of As-Samu’ town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron. The assault targeted the home of Mahmoud Ad-Daghamin, resulting in property damage and harm to his family.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, armed colonists, with protection from the occupation forces, attacked Ad-Daghamin’s house, smashing doors, vandalizing his vehicle, and killing several of his sheep. In their assault, the assailants fired tear gas canisters towards the house, causing suffocation among Ad-Daghamin’s five children. The affected family members were taken to Yatta Government Hospital, where their conditions were reported as light to moderate.
Violence perpetrated by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a frequent occurrence in the West Bank, with Israeli authorities seldom prosecuting such acts. The range of violence includes arson attacks on property and mosques, stone-throwing, uprooting crops and olive trees, and attacking vulnerable homes.
Currently, approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law. Since October 2023, colonists have conducted 7,154 assaults against Palestinian civilians and their property in the occupied West Bank, resulting in 34 fatalities, as reported by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
