Cairo: The Arab League's Secretary-General, Nabil Fahmy, has expressed strong condemnation of the Israeli authorities' proposal for new settlement projects in the West Bank. Fahmy has specifically warned against the E1 plan, which he claims aims to divide the West Bank and isolate East Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Fahmy issued a statement highlighting that Israeli activities in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon reflect a strategy based on force, imposing a fait accompli, and violating state sovereignty. He emphasized that these settlement activities are designed to undermine the possibility of establishing an independent and contiguous Palestinian state. The Secretary-General has urged the Security Council and the international community to take decisive action to halt Israeli settlement activities and violations. He called for those responsible to be held accountable, cautioning that the lack of accountability encourages Israel to act beyond the boundari es of international law.
