Al-azhar: Al-Azhar, the highest Sunni Islamic institution in Egypt, expressed deep concern on Tuesday at the international legal system's failure to address Israel's passage of a law authorizing the execution of Palestinian prisoners. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, this statement came the day after the Israeli Knesset passed the law authorizing the execution of Palestinian prisoners by a vote of 62 to 48, with one abstention, amidst jubilation from right-wing parties. Al-Azhar voiced its deep regrets and dismay at what it described as the collapse of the international legal system and its inability to confront the Israeli occupation's legislative actions. Al-Azhar affirmed that this law reveals what it termed as the "bloody face" of the occupation, accusing it of seeking to legalize its actions under what it called a false legal cover. The institution strongly rejected any measures or decisions by the occupation that aim to legitimize the killing of Palestinians, calling the dec ision a reflection of moral depravity and a violation of human values. The statement from Al-Azhar urged the international community and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities in response to actions that disregard international laws and norms. It called for immediate action to prevent the law's implementation, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the protection of civilian lives.
