Abu rudeineh: Presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh has issued a call for the international community to intervene and halt the ongoing Israeli colonial activities in the West Bank, which he argues violate international legitimacy and law. He highlighted the recent announcement of 19 new colonies as a blatant breach of relevant UN resolutions.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Abu Rudeineh emphasized the necessity for the international community, particularly the United States, to exert pressure on Israeli authorities. This pressure is needed to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, including prefabricated houses and tents, into the Gaza Strip. The region is currently grappling with harsh weather conditions that exacerbate the suffering of displaced citizens living in poorly maintained tents.
Abu Rudeineh underscored the importance of opening crossings and expediting aid delivery. He urged the removal of obstacles imposed by Israeli authorities on the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to enable it to fulfill its duties to the Palestinian people, in accordance with international resolutions and the UN General Assembly.
He also expressed concern over the destruction in Gaza and the continual assaults by the Israeli army on Palestinian territories. This includes the demolition of homes, displacement of residents, and systematic terrorism by settlers, resulting in the killing of citizens, destruction of property, and uprooting of trees.
Highlighting the complexity of the situation, Abu Rudeineh called for effective U.S. intervention to ensure any peace plan, such as President Donald Trump's vision, is successful. He criticized Israeli policies that undermine international efforts to halt violence and escalation, stressing the need to uphold international legitimacy and law.
Abu Rudeineh reaffirmed the importance of maintaining Palestinian constants and official legitimacy, which aim to preserve Jerusalem and its holy sites, as well as the unity of Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with East Jerusalem as a focal point.
